You can use a regular Sharpie for a dependable mark that holds up surprisingly well. After multiple washes, you may notice slight fading and want to touch it up but that’s part of the journey. (For the record: we tested it with Sharpie, washed and dried it normally, and it looked nearly the same after.)
If you’d prefer something more permanent from the start, a fabric marker works great too.
